Imperfect Strangers, Lingophil’s audio story for intermediate learners of Spanish, follows the lives of a group of young people from different ends of the world whose paths cross during one fateful summer.

Struggling with bittersweet family relations and friendships, broken dreams, breakups, financial woes and much more, as they try to find the path to their place in the world.

Join our cast of colorful characters, voiced by professional voiceover artists.

Right from the start you’ll learn colloquial, everyday speech, you’ll need to understand the natives and navigate the real Spanish spoken in the street. Meanwhile, you’ll be developing the foundation of your linguistic skills by acquiring new vocabulary, phrases, and learning how to construct native level sentences.

Once you’ve addressed the foundation of your language, the difficulty level will progressively increase with each Season, as the audio places more demands on your listening comprehension and vocabulary skills. Memorization is subtly and effectively enhanced by repeating common expressions and patterns multiple times throughout the story in various contexts.

With Lingophil you’ll be provided with more than an engaging story. Learning a foreign language to proficiency requires long term focus and dedication, so our Intensive Listening Comprehension Practice™ method is uniquely designed to help you stay focused and learn content thoroughly for maximum retention.

Meanwhile, back in Barcelona, Camille and Flor make plans to celebrate Camille’s birthday up after Camille’s return from Warsaw. Before parting, Camille tells Flor to take things slowly with the jazz musician because she’s worried that Flor might get hurt again. In a taxi on her way to her parents’ place, Camille receives a voicemail from her aunt who is happily expecting her visit in Warsaw.

At home, Camille gets into an argument with her mother Isabel, a resolute Latina woman, who cannot accept her daughter’s decision to give up piano to earn a degree in sociology. Camille asks Isabel about her dad, who hasn’t been around in quite some time. Isabel tells her that he’s at a conference, neglecting to mention the marital problems the couple has been having lately. After Camille is gone, Isabel gets a voicemail from Camille’s father, informing her about his decision to spend the summer away from the family.

FAQ

You can start with a later Season and use the short summaries on this page to keep up with the plot and the characters. Just keep in mind that the Seasons follow one continuous storyline and that annotations and exercises build on grammar concepts covered in earlier Seasons.

The difficulty level of Seasons 1 – 3 is roughly equivalent to the Spanish level B1 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Some of the content goes beyond that level because the audios contain colloquial and idiomatic expressions as well as some verb tenses generally not found in learning material for level B1. To fully benefit from these Seasons, you should be at least lower intermediate level.
